B/w, 8x10. Shown with Lon Chaney, Jr. (as the Wolfman) in movie still from
The House of Frankenstein (1944). Born in California in 1926 of an old
Spanish family, Verdugo began her film career playing Mexican women and
various exotic foreigners in Hollywood films of the 1940s and early 1950s.
Starring roles included Tuna Clipper (1949) and some Gene Autry Westerns,
including The Big Sombrero (also 1949). Active in TV supporting roles
into the 1980s, Verdugo is best remembered as nurse Consuelo Lopez on
Marcus Welby, M.D. (1969-1976), for which she was nominated for an
Emmy Award in 1972 and a Golden Globe in 1973 in the best supporting
actress categories. Verdugo, who briefly sang with Xavier Cugat's band in
the early 1940s, recorded their song Tico-Tico. Her first husband was
writer Charles R. Marion (1946 until their divorce in 1955), the father of
her son, actor/director Richard Marion. Fine condition.
