Russian born Elena Obraztsova (1939-2015) was an operatic mezzo-soprano,
known as one of the greatest and most accomplished Russian opera singers of
all time. She set fire to her career during her recital in the Salle Pleyel
in Paris in 1963. Having traveled all over the world, Obraztsova made countless
appearances in several different operas, landing the title role of
Carmen in 1978 which aired on television. In 1990, the soprano was
awarded with the title "Hero of Socialist Labor, Order of Lenin" by
the President of USSR for her contribution in the Soviet musical world. In
her later years, she spent much of her time teaching others who would study
closely under her wing. Right edge slightly worn. Fine
