Contract signed: "Elia Kazan" as Owner, 13 pages, 8½x11. No
place, 1972 May 15. Co-signed: "Eric Lieber" as
Producer. Contract spelling out various rights of the author, owner
and producer of the film A Face in the Crowd. In addition to making his
mark on film history directing such masterpieces as Gentleman's
Agreement, A Streetcar Named Desire, On the Waterfront
and East of Eden, each of which earned him an Oscar
nomination, ELIA KAZAN (1909-2003) with his decision to name alleged
industry Communists before the House Un-American Activities Committee. He
won the Oscar twice and in 1999 received an honorary Academy Award "In
appreciation of a long, distinguished and unparalleled career during which he
has influenced the very nature of filmmaking through his creation of cinematic
masterpieces." A Face in the Crowd (1957), directed and produced by
Kazan, cast newcomer Andy Griffith as a villain. (He was very believable in the
role). Staple holes in upper left of each page. Otherwise, fine
condition.
