In part: “…the ABS is indebted to us to the extent of seven hundred sixty-eight dollars and eighty five cents ($768.85)…I wish to convey to you that The Billboard's tie -up with Amalgamated and its eagerness to extend credit in connection with advertising that appeared in the ABS section was based solely on our confidence in you as an individual and, of course, in your personal integrity.Elias E. Sugarman (1901-1988) worked as an editor for Billboard magazine throughout the 1930s and 1940s. Moreover, in 1939, he served as an abbot at the Friars Club, a fraternal organization whose membership comprised show business personalities. Sugarman started out as a reporter; early on in his career he worked for both the Bronx Home News and The Brooklyn Eagle. Following his tenure at Billboard, Mr. Sugarman worked in public relations and had several sales jobs. Two horizontal mailing folds. Toned.  Tears from staple removal toward top edge of both pages. Tiny stains concentrated toward top edge of first page. Otherwise, fine condition.
