Amalgamated Broadcasting System
Typed Letter signed: “Elias E. Sugarman” in blue ink, 2p, 7¼x10¼. No place, 1933
November 20. On official Billboard magazine letterhead. To “Dear Mr. Wynn”. In part:
“…the ABS is indebted to us to the extent of seven hundred sixty-eight dollars and eighty five
cents ($768.85)…I wish to convey to you that The Billboard's tie -up with Amalgamated and its
eagerness to extend credit in connection with advertising that appeared in the ABS section was

Elias E. Sugarman (1901-1988) worked as an editor for Billboard magazine throughout
the 1930s and 1940s. Moreover, in 1939, he served as an abbot at the Friars Club, a
fraternal organization whose membership comprised show business personalities. Sugarman
started out as a reporter; early on in his career he worked for both the Bronx Home News
and The Brooklyn Eagle. Following his tenure at Billboard, Mr. Sugarman worked in public
relations and had several sales jobs. Two horizontal mailing folds. Toned. Tears from staple
removal toward top edge of both pages. Tiny stains concentrated toward top edge of first
