Signature: "Elie Wiesel", 4¼x3¼. Signed on a blank label with the backing still affixed on
verso. Elie Wiesel (1928-2016) was born in Sighet, Romania. When he was 15 years old,
his entire family was taken to the Auschwitz concentration camp controlled by Nazi
Germany. Later, both he and his father were taken to Buchenwald. His father died just weeks
before the prisoners were freed. Wiesel became a notable author and activist for peace, most
famous for his 1955 memoir Night. The Holocaust survivor was one of the founders of the
United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, located in Washington D.C. He won the Nobel
Peace Prize in 1986. Slightly soiled. Otherwise, fine condition.
