Autograph Letter signed: "Elinor Fair", 1 page, 5x7¾. No place, no date, but bearing ink stamp receipt date of June 10, 1932. In full: "I authorize my mother, Mrs. H [elen]. S. Crowe, to have access to my safe deposit box." Pencil note (unknown hand): #314. Fair has used her pen to strike her married name ("Boyd") from the letterhead. Elinor Fair (1903-1957)appeared on vaudeville stages, and had been playing small roles in silent films for 8 years before being named a WAMPAS Baby Star of 1924. Working under contract to Cecil B. DeMille, she appeared in several of his films, including Yankee Clipper (1926). She was married from 1926 to 1929 to William Boyd (later famous as "Hopalong Cassidy"), who proposed to her for real during romantic scene in the silent film Volga Boatman (1926). Her film career ended with some un-credited roles in the early 1930s. Fair was billed as Eleanor Crowe in some of her early roles. Multiple mailing folds. Ink stamp near lower edge (effecting signature). Otherwise, fine condition.
