Autograph Musical Quotation signed: "[musical notations with lyrics]: "I saw them plung-ing thru the foam-/Elinor Remick Warren", "Frederick Shauwecker", 4¾x7¾ album leaf. Also signed on verso "Lauritz Melchior". American composer Elinor Remick WARREN (1900-1991) composed over 200 published works for orchestra, chamber ensemble, chorus and piano. She was also a talented pianist. Warren was inspired by the American West (Along the Western Shore, Singing Earth) and by Romantic mythology (The Legend of King Arthur). Her Abram in Egypt (1959) included texts from the Dead Sea Scrolls. Frederick SCHAUWECKER, active 1936-1959, was a talented pianist and the main accompanist of Swedish tenor Jussi Bjorling on his American tours. Lauritz MELCHIOR (1890-1973) made his major opera debut with the Copenhagen Royal Opera in 1913. He was the first operatic tenor to sing on radio, appearing in comedy and variety programs as well as operas. A frequent performer at New York's Metropolitan Opera from 1926 until his retirement from the opera stage in 1950, and continued to appear in films and radio and in touring performances.
