Wizards, an animated futuristic adventure written and directed by RALPH BAKSHI, was released in 1977. ELISABETH BAKSHI was the wife of the director, who was known for his adult-oriented animated features, which often combined animation with brief live-action backgrounds. Best known for the full-length X-rated cartoon Fritz the Cat (1972) and an animated version of The Lord of the Rings (1978), Ralph is now a Southwest-based artist. Actress SUSAN TYRRELL (born in 1945) was the narrator and did various voices for Wizards. In the year of this check, she appeared in The Killer Inside Me. Tyrrell had made her Broadway debut at age 17 and debuted in feature films in 1971. Her credits include Islands in the Stream (1977), the Andy Warhol film, Bad, The Underachievers (1987) and Swap Meet (1999), as well as a number of made-for-TV movies, including Willow B: Women in Prison (1981) and Windmills of the Gods (1988). The actress, who is sometimes billed as Susan Tyrell, was also a regular on the TV series, Open All Night (1981-1982), and has appeared as a guest star in several TV shows, from Mr. Novak (1964) to Tales from the Crypt (1995). Bank stamp touches the upper loops of the "B", "k" and "h" of Bakshi's signature. Fine condition.
