Signature: "Elisabeth Platel" in blue felt tip, 5x3 card. French ballerina Elisabeth Platel was born in Paris, France on April 10, 1959. She studied at the Conservatoire de Paris (1971-1975) and the the Paris Opera School (1975-1976). At 17, she was appearing with the Paris Opera Ballet and in 1981 Rudolf Nureyev chose Platel to dance the Queen of the Dryads in his production of Don Quixote and the two formed an impressive artistic collaboration while he was director of the Paris Opera Ballet. In 1999, she retired from the Paris Opera Ballet, but continued to perform as an etoile invitee. She has also performed with the Royal Ballet in London, Danish Royal Ballet, Hamburg Ballet, Ballet of the Vienna Opera, Ballet of the Berlin Opera, National Ballet of Finland, Bolshoi Ballet, Kirov Ballet and the Royal New Zealand Ballet. Platel received the Laurence Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement of the Year in Ballet in 1982. Fine condition.
