Advertisement for Sarah Whitcher's Story, a children's book about a lost young girl who is saved by a stranger during pioneer days. Elizabeth Yates (1905-2001), an acclaimed American author of children's books, received the Newberry Award in 1944 for Mountain Born and in 1951 for Amos Fortune, Free Man. Her many honors included the Sara Josepha Hale Award (1970) for a "distinguished body of work in the field of literature and letters." She wrote a 3-volume autobiography (1981-1984). Lightly toned. Corners rounded. Normal mailing creases. Ink notes (unknown hand) on verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
