First Day Cover honoring the Judicial Branch of the U.S. Government, 3-cent Supreme Court stamp affixed, postmarked Devon, PA, February 3, 1951. Elliot Lawrence (born in 1925) has been a successful orchestra leader, composer and musical director. Known for his jazz recordings, Lawrence has also been the orchestra leader on The Red Buttons Show (1952-1955) and Air Time '57 (1956-1957), hosted Melody Street (1953) and composed musical scores for several feature films, including The Incredible Shrinking Man (1957), Your Money or Your Wife (1972) and Network (1976) and the made-for-TV movie, The Cradle Will Fall (1983). He has also served as musical director for a number of prestigious events, including the 22nd, 23rd, 30th, 32nd and 34th Tony Awards (1968, 1969, 1976, 1978 and 1980), The Miss Universe Pageant (1976) and the Kennedy Center Honors (1993, 1994, 1999, 2000 and 2001). Ink smudged at end of flourish of last "e" in Lawrence. Lightly shaded at right margin, touching typed address. Lightly soiled. Overall, fine condition.
