ROOSEVELT (1910-1990), the third son of Franklin D. Roosevelt, was born ten months after his brother, Franklin
Delano Roosevelt, Jr. (1909-1909), died at seven months old. Elliott was
Mayor of Miami Beach from 1965-1967. Faye Emerson was the second of his
five wives. Actress FAYE EMERSON (1917-1983) began her film career in
1941, appearing in six films that year. Emerson, whose film credits include
The Desert Song (1943), Destination Tokyo (1943), Hollywood
Canteen (1944) and A Face in the Crowd, had her greatest success
on the small screen, hosting a number of TV programs in the early 1950s.
She was so popular that it is rumored that TV's Emmy Awards are named in her
honor. Emerson, later marred to bandleader Skitch Henderson, was married to
Elliott Roosevelt from 1944 to 1950. HOWARD FAST (1914-2003) was a
best selling author, beginning in the late 1930s, and later a screenwriter.
His works took a left-wing political viewpoint, and he was for a time a member
of the Communist Party, although he later denounced the Party. His best known
novels include Freedom Road (1944), Spartacus (1951) and The
Immigrants (1977). PAUL M. ANGLE is a historian who whose
publications include a collection of Abraham Lincoln's writings and of the
Lincoln-Douglas debates of 1858. ARNOLD GESELL (1880-1961) was an
American psychologist noted for his work in child development. FRED LANDON,
a Canadian historian, was a President of the University of Western Ontario.
RUSSELL JANNEY wrote a novel, The Miracle of the Bells (1948) and
helped turn it into a 1956 film. HARNETT KANE wrote fiction and
nonfiction works about the old South, including an illustrated history, Gone
Are the Days. Slightly frayed at left edge where page was removed from a
