Signature of Elmer Valo on an index card
Signature: "Elmer Valo" in blue ink, 5x3 index card. Valo (1921-1998) played Major League ball from 1940 to 1961, the first 13 for the A's in Philadelphia and Kansas City. He had a .282 career batting and nine seasons with more than 100 hits. He placed in the top 10 in the American League for doubles twice, triples three times and on base percentage three times. He also became the first AL player to hit two bases-loaded triples in a game in May 1, 1949, a mark matched by only two players since then. He switched to pinch-hitting later in his career and, in 1960, set pinch-hitting records for games, walks and times on base. Ink note (unknown hand) on verso (no show through). Fine condition.
