Note in Full: “I am pleased to add my autograph to your collection”. Attorney and administrator Elvis Jacob Stahr, Jr. (1916-1998) was Professor of Law at the University of Kentucky before becoming Dean of the University of Kentucky College of Law (1948-1957) and then Provost of the University of Kentucky (1954-1957). Stahr then served as Vice Chancellor of the University of Pittsburgh (1957-1959) and as President of West Virginia University (1959-1961) before being appointed as U.S. Secretary of the Army (1961-1962) by President John F. Kennedy. After leaving that post, Stahr became President of Indiana University (1962-1968) and then President of the National Audubon Society (1968-1979). Lightly toned. Otherwise, fine condition.
