Handwritten letter to a fan, asking for a reply on several questions,
including "Which Stooge comedy is your favorite?"
Autograph Letter signed: "Emil Sitka", 1 page, 8x10½. No
place, 1987 December. On personal letterhead bearing printed photo of
Sitka from In Orbit. To "Dear Warren", in full:
"Merry Christmas to you! Finally ... I find your last letter and
this big envelope at the bottom of a big stack of my fan mail. Since I've long
ago run out of glossy photos to send to my friends I'll just put this letterhead
and news clips in here and hope you will bother to mail me back your opinion on
the following: 1 - Which stooge comedy is your favorite? 2 - What do you think
is a stooge? 3 - What character did I do which is your favorite? 4 - Which
Stooge is your favorite? Fondly". Emil Sitka (1914-1998) was one
of only two actors (the other being Harold Brauer) to work with all six of the
Three Stooges. The character actor appeared in so many Three Stooges films
that he was often called "the fourth Stooge." His most famous movie
line, "Hold hands, you lovebirds!" comes from the Three Stooges short,
Brideless Groom (1947). Altogether, Sitka appeared in over 400 films
and TV shows, including 70 Three Stooges productions. Sitka, a regular at
Three Stooges fan conventions, received frequent requests to repeat the line at
fans' weddings. Slightly creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
