best wishes/and kind remembrances/Emil v. Sauer". Sepia, 6¼x9 photograph,
8½x12 mount. German virtuoso pianist Emil von Sauer (1862-1942), a pupil
of Franz Liszt. He composed piano concertos and sonatas, and also lieder.
Six CDs of his music have been released. Sauer also edited the piano works of
Johannes Brahms and others. Toned. Multiple notches on mount. Pencil note
(effecting signature). Corners worn and torn. Surface damage to photograph.
