Autograph letter signed: "Emily Kimbrough" in blue ink. 1 page, 5½x3½. Written on personal notecard. New York City, New York. In full: "Dear Mr. Stanhope - If you will send me your copy of "Forty Plus..." I shall by happy to autograph it for you - Yours sincerely". Emily Kimbrough (1899-1989) was an American author and journalist. Her breakthrough came after co-writing with her friend Cornelia Otis Skinner Our Hearts Were Young and Gay based on their European adventures, which would go on to be a New York Times bestseller and even merited a Hollywood movie version (which would be the inspiration for We Followed Our Hearts to Hollywood). She would go on to work as a magazine editor for publications such as Fashions of the Hour, Ladies Home Journal, Country Life, Reader's Digest, Saturday Review of Literature, and Parents. Her other books include It Gives Me Great Pleasure (1948), Forty Plus and Fancy Free (1954), Forever Old, Forever New (1964) and Better than Oceans (1976). Toned. Corners rounded. Light surface creases. Pencil notes in top margin in unknown hand. Mailing stamps and addresses on verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
