First Day Cover signed: "Thomas W. Ferebee/ Col. USAF Ret./ Bombardier of Enola Gay/ Aug. 6, 1945/ Hiroshima, Japan" in blue ink and "Theodore J Van Kirk/ Navigator, Enola Gay" in black ink, 6½x3¾. First Day Cover honoring Dwight David Eisenhower, 34th President of the United States, with b/w cachet at left edge. Postmarked Abilene, Kansas, October 14, 1969. One 6¢ b/w Dwight D. Eisenhower stamp affixed, FIRST DAY OF ISSUE. Signed by the pilot (PAUL W. TIBBETS) and navigator (THEODORE J. VAN KIRK) of the Enola Gay, which dropped the first atomic bomb used in wartime on Hiroshima, Japan on Aug. 6 1945, hastening the end of WWII. Lightly toned, soiled, creased, and rippled. Normal postal stamps, which just barely touches the tail end of signatures. Otherwise, fine condition.
