First Day Cover honoring the 1947 15-cent Air Mail stamp, 15-cent Air Mail stamp featuring a plane flying over the New York skyline with the Statue of Liberty in the foreground is affixed, postmarked New York, New York, August 20, 1947, FIRST DAY OF ISSUE. The late Jacob Beser was the only man to fly on both the Enola Gay (Hiroshima, August 6, 1945) and Bock's Car (Nagasaki, August 9, 1945) atomic bomb missions. He served as Radar Countermeasures Observer on both flights. Slightly soiled. Fine condition.
