EQUUS MOVIE CAST, CO-SIGNED BY: RICHARD BURTON, PETER FIRTH
The two actors signs this black and white still from the movie adaptation of Equus
Printed photograph signed in ink: "Richard/Burton" and "Peter Firth" in black ink. 8x10. RICHARD BURTON (1925-1984), a Welsh stage and screen actor with a magnificent voice, received seven Oscar nominations (for My Cousin Rachel, 1952; The Robe, 1953, Becket, 1964, The Spy Who Came In From the Cold, 1965; Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf, 1966; Anne of the Thousand Days, 1969; and Equus, 1977), all but the first of these as Best Actor. Burton may be best remembered, however, for his tempestuous romances, failed marriages and movie pairings with Elizabeth Taylor, whom he met on the set of Cleopatra (1963). PETER FIRTH (b. 1953), is a Tony and Oscar-nominated English actor with over 80 movies and TV shows to his credit. Firth got his start on British TV in 1969, but he made a name for himself by creating the role of Alan Strang, a horse-mutilating stableboy, in the Broadway production of "Equus". The play ran for 1,209 performances between 1974 and 1977 and earned Firth a Tony nomination for Best Actor in a Play. He reprised the role of Stang in the 1977 film adaptation, for which he earned an Oscar nomination. He went on to starring roles in Joseph Andrews (1977), Tess (1979) and An Awfully Big Adventure (1994). He returned to TV after an 11-year absence in The Young Indiana Chronicles and has been a frequent guest star on numerous TV shows ever since. Lightly bowed. Corners slightly rounded. Stamp on verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
