British comedian Eric Idle (b. 1943) gained fame as a member of the comedy group Monty Python (1969-1983). "Rutland Weekend News" is derived from his BBC skit show Rutland Weekend Television, which also generated the Beatles parody group The Rutles. Idle has been seen often on America's Saturday Night Live, and created the comedy musical Spamalot (2004), which won a Tony as Best Musical. Idle has written several books, fiction and nonfiction including the futuristic exploration of comedy offered here. Lightly worn. Otherwise, fine condition.
