ERIC LINDEN
Small 5x4 photograph shown with a young woman in a carnival scene
Photograph signed: "Eric/Linden". Sepia, 5x4, Perennially fresh-faced Eric Linden (1909-1994) was a B-movie first and second lead of the 1930s, often appearing a wise-alecky punk or weak-willed mama's boy. He appeared in a few plays before cast for the lead in RKO's juvenile Are These Our Children? (1931). A favorite of critics even in the most dreadful of pictures, Linden appeared in over 30 movies between 1931 and 1943. His career was hurt by his youthful looks, but what killed it was his appearance as an "amputation case" in Gone With the Wind (1939). Most of his performance was left on the cutting room floor, which made it look like Linden had accepted a bit part. He appeared in one more film (1941's Criminals Within). Linden appeared in two Broadway plays: Faust (1928) and Ladies' Money (1934). Signature in poor contrast but legible. Ink note (unknown hand) on verso. Corners creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
