Autograph letter signed: "Eric S. Robertson" in black ink. 4½x6½. 3, St. James's Street, S.W.
December 21, 1886. To: "Dear Mr. Ronetti:" in full: "Just off to Scotland. I am very pleased
that you can come on the 7th. Mr Watts says he will come in mufti if it be cold, or he would it
will be cold. You will be safe to come in any garb you care to don. Very faithfully yours" postscript:
"of course I feel satisfied to you for your kind remarks about" [script ends]. Eric Sutherland
Robertson was an author of biographies and a literary critic in the late 1800s. Some of his
most notable works include, The Life of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1887), and
English Poetesses: A Series of Critical Biographies with Illustrated Extracts (1883). He also
edited a biography of Percy Bysshe Shelley and wrote a few interpretations of bible scriptures.
Toned. Corners rounded. Light stains on left margin from adhesive residue. Upper right
corner creased. Pencil notes (unknown hand) on front and verso. Normal mailing folds.
