ERNEST BEVIN
Ernest Bevin signs an album leaf in black ink.
Signature: "Ernest Bevin", 7x5½ album leaf. In May 1940, British Prime Minister Churchill invited Ernest Bevin (1881-1952) to become Minister of Labor in his coalition government. During WWII, Bevin successfully achieved mobilization of Britain's workforce and became one of the most significant members of Churchill's War Cabinet. Prime Minister Attlee appointed him Foreign Secretary in 1945. Bevin resigned because of ill health in 1951, five weeks before his death. He played an important role in the acceptance of the Marshall Plan, the creation of NATO and Britain's decision to develop nuclear weapons. Irregular left edge. Fine condition.
