ERNEST DIMNET
Handwritten letter, written in French, from the priest and author thanking the recipient for introducing him to her friends
Autograph Letter Signed: "Ernest Dimnet" in black ink. 3p, 5¼x6¾ integral leaf. Written on stationery containing the address “Three Hundred Park Avenue” at header. To “Dear Madam and friend”. In French, translated in part:I am sorry. I saw (name difficult to decipher) dance, which cheered me up……your beautiful book that needs to be touched up by chlorine or a proofreader. Apart from that, there isn't a man more content than I am. I saw you and played with you smart friend and I'll wait for you in Paris./ When will you be here? The telephone is Plaza 1188 and I would like it a lot if you would think of me there one morning./ Thanks again for your constant attention (and for your introduction yesterday)…Ernest Dimnet (1866-1954) was a French cleric, author, and philosopher. His best known work, The Art of Thinking (1930), purportedly improves the reader's concentration by following a few simple practices. Dimnet is also well regarded for his popular French translations of English books written by Charlotte, Emily, and Anne Bronte. Normal mailing fold. Corners and edges gently worn. Lightly toned. Otherwise, fine condition.
