excerpt from her other successful book, Belles on Their Toes
Typescript signed: "Ernestine Gilbreth Carey", in black ink,
8½x11. American author Ernestine Gilbreth Carey (1908-2006) is known for
her collaboration with brother Frank Bunker Gilbreth, Jr. on two
books: Cheaper by the Dozen and Belles on Their Toes. Two
of twelve children, the brother and sister duo wrote the books to chronicle
their upbringing in Montclair, New Jersey. Cheaper By The Dozen
was adapted into a film in 1950, with Belles on Their Toes being
adapted in 1952. Carey published a few more books independently after her
success with her brother, though none became as popular as her previous book.
