Original art signed "Hi, Bill!/ ErniE Chan/9-3-89". B/w, 4x6. This
card has an original drawing of Marvel Comic's version of Conan the
Barbarian, a title with which Chan is most associated. Chan, born Ernie Chua
in 1940, is a Filippino comic book artist who immigrated to the United States in
1970. He started illustrating comics in the Philippines at age 20 before moving
to the United States. He's probably best known for his art in Marvel's
Conan the Barbarian, as well as inking Sal Buscema's pencil work
on The Incredible Hulk. He broke into American comics penciling
Batman at DC Comics, and he's worked on DC's Claw, Sandman,
Swamp Thing and Jonah Hex and Marvel's Doctor Strange,
Dracula, Daredevil, Thor, Fantastic Four,
Powerman and Iron Fist, King Kull and John Carter of Mars.
He retired in 2002 and does commission work. Lightly toned, otherwise in fine
condition.
