Famed German pianist and harpsichordist signs on this 3½x5¼ photograph mount dated
in 1937, Extremely Rare!
Photograph Mount Signed: "Ernst Wolff/Feb. 19th 1937", 3½x5¼. Magazine photo (b/w,
2x3) affixed above signature. Ernst Victor Wolff (1889-1960), a German concert pianist and
harpsichordist, was celebrated as both a soloist and accompanist. In the 1930's he
accompanied the Hugo Wolf Society for recording projects. He has performed with many
musicians including Dorothy Maynor. In 1938 he went on to perform in J.S. Bach's Coffee
Cantata at Carnegie Hall. Later in his career he taught at Michigan State University until
his death. Michigan State University then set up a memorial fund to support music
students. Toned at edges. Light crease at left of lower edge. Pinhead sized spot on photo
image. Otherwise, fine condition.
