Washington be sure and let me know. With best wishes, Sincerely,"Carey Estes Kefauver (1903-1963) served as a U.S. Senator from Tennessee
from 1949 until his death. He had previously been a U.S. Representative from
the state from 1938 until his election to the Senate, which ended "Boss" Edward
H. Crump's domination of Tennessee politics. Kefauver gained national
recognition for chairing the Special committee on Organized Crime in Interstate
Commerce, commonly known as the "Kefauver Committee" (1950-1951). He was an
unsuccessful candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination in 1952 and
1956, but in 1956, he became the Democratic candidate for Vice President on
the ticket headed by Adlai Stevenson, which was defeated in an Eisenhower
