quotation in French
Autograph Quotation on Picture Postcard Signed: In French, translated in full, “Those who
by their memories belong to the past, and to the future by their aspirations, will not find a place in
the present./ Estevao/ Leao Bourroul” 3½x5½. January 14, 1910. Estevão Leão Bourroul
(1859-1914) was a writer, lawyer, and politician who went on to found the Catholic Party
in São Paulo, Brazil. He belonged to many eminent societies including the Historical and
Geographical Institute of São Paulo, and the early Paulista Academy of Letters. Toned. Gently
bowed. Image on front is silvered. Staining and scuffing toward edges. Otherwise, fine
condition.
