1945 July 30. On letterhead of the Committee on Banking and Currency to
Captain Ralph Errington Ward, Washington, D.C. In full: "My signature
at the close of this letter will serve to comply with your request for my
autograph. Sincerely". Magazine photo affixed in lower margin.
Accompanied by transmittal envelope with Millikin's stamped frank.
EUGENE DONALD MILLIKIN (1891-1958), a combat veteran of World War
I and President of Kinney-Coastal Oil, represented Colorado in the US Senate
from 1941 to 1957. He chaired the Republican Conference from 1946 to
1957. From the collection Ralph Errington Ward (1926-2009) a fighter
pilot and squadron commander in the China-Burma-India Theater of World War II.
Ward became President and CEO of Cheseborough-Ponds, Inc., transforming the
cosmetics firm into a major home product conglomerate. Multiple mailing folds.
