Handwritten poem by the health and fitness advocate, below a handwritten note by the Episcopal Bishop

Dr. EUGENE LA FORREST SWAN (b. 1876) purchased Pine Isle Camp, Great Pond, Maine, in 1908 and ran it as a summer boy's camp until turning it over to his son in 1947. He served as a medical corpsman during World War I. An advocate of fitness and the outdoor life, he co-authored Harper's Camp and Scouting Guide (1911). President of the American Social Hygiene Association, he gave sex education lectures at high schools and YMCA clubs. American Episcopal cleric ETHELBERT TALBOT (1858-1928) was appointed Missionary Bishop of Wyoming and Idaho in 1886. He was Bishop of the Archdiocese of Bethlehem (Pennsylvania) from 1897 to 1927, and the 15th Presiding Bishop of the American Episcopal Church (1926-1927), the last to hold that office by seniority rather than election. Binding holes on left margin. Corners slightly worn. Toned. Otherwise, fine condition.
