first American dramatist to win the Nobel Prize for Literature (1936), Eugene O'Neill
(1888-1953) began writing plays while recuperating at a Connecticut tuberculosis sanatorium
(1912-1914). Lauded for his innovate theater techniques and dramatic style, O'Neill produced
20 long plays and several short ones in 23 years. Among his masterpieces are A Long Day's
Journey Into Night (published posthumously in 1956), The Iceman Cometh (1946), Mourning
Becomes Electra (1932) and Anna Christie (1922). Fine condition. Framed to an overall size
of 25x19½.
