8x10. One surface with 15 stills from his films, the top 9 of them being Our
Gang comedies. Eugene Jackson II (1916-2001) was the second
African-American to be cast in the Our Gang comedy shorts during the
silent (Pathé) era. Called "Pineapple" for his distinctive haircut, he
replaced the first black cast member Ernie "Sunshine Sammy" Morrison. He played
"Humidor" in Mary Picford's hit Little Annie Rooney 1925). In
Hearts in Dixie (1929), he was the first African-American child with
spoken movie lines. Jackson played Diahann Carroll's uncle on
Julia, the first network sitcome with an African-American lead. His
last feature film was The Addams Family (1991). He wrote an autobiography
in 1999. His son Eugene Jackson III, also had a long Hollywood career as an
actor and camera operator. Tack head-size holes at corners. Lightly worn.
