EUNICE GAYSON
Handwritten sentiment of the first ever Bond girl
Autograph Sentiment signed: "Most Sincerely/Eunice Gayson", 3½x3¼. English actress Eunice Gayson (1928-2018) played youthful film roles from 1948, and appeared in TV plays and series of the 1950s. She appeared as Sylvia Trench in the first two James Bond films, Dr. No and From Russia With Love. Appearing in the casino scene in the first film, she said, "I admire your luck, Mr. …", to which Connery replied "Bond, James Bond." As the first woman to appear in the long running series, she is officially the first "Bond girl." Although the part of Sylvia Trench was dropped from the later Bond films, her performance earned her roles in episodes of three TV action/spy series in the next three years: Secret Agent, The Saint and The Avengers. Over three decades later, her daughter, Kate Gayson, appeared in a casino scene in another Bond movie, GoldenEye (1995). Eunice Gayson has a stage resume as well, including a long-running role as Baroness Schrader in a West End production of The Sound of Music, and in a 1990 production of Into the Woods. Lightly creased. Adhesive residue on verso. Fine condition.
