EVA CHARNEY
Actress sends John Willis, editor of Theatre World, her thanks for being included in his book
Autograph letter signed: "Eva" in blue ink. 1 paged, 8¾x5¾. Written on personal letterhead. October 1981. New York City New York. In part: "Dear Mr. Willis, Thank you for making me part of your distinguished "Theatre World" volume these past years...I am very proud to be part of it! I wanted to send you a picture [not included] more recent than the one I sent when I was in the 1977 Broadway revival of "HAIR" and also to add my credits these additions:/ Thank you for including me! All best wishes,". Eva Charney has appeared to much acclaim both on and off Broadway, as well as in television and movies. She made her off-Broadway debut in The Wanderers, and her Broadway debut in HAIR (1977), furthermore making her regional debut in Arturo Ui where she played the saxophone live onstage. In television, she has appeared in St. Elsewhere (1985) and Dave's World (1993); and in the movies The First Time (1983) and Mr. Write (1994). She now works as a renowned Hollywood dialogue coach, consultant, and production assistant. John A. Willis (1916-2010), active in Theatre World from the beginning, became its chief editor in 1965, holding that position until 2008. Willis is regarded as one of the foremost theatre and film historians of the 20th century. While producing (and presenting) the annual Theatre World Awards, Willis also served on the nominating committee for the Tony Awards. Theatre World, which received its own Tony for Excellence in Theatre in 2001, continues under chief editor Ben Hodges. Corners creased and rounded. Lightly toned. Ink slightly smeared and shows through verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
