EVA PERÓN
She signed this calligraphically inscribed 9x12 photo, which was reproduced on posters after her death.
Portrait Mount inscribed in calligraphy, in Spanish: "To Mr. Fred H. Gowen/cordially", signed "Eva Perón". B/w, 9x11¾ overall, image 9x11, affixed to 12½x16½ matte (three surfaces). Buenos Aires, 1952 February 7. Exactly three months later, on May 7, 1952, Eva Perón celebrated her 33rd birthday. On July 26, 1952, almost a year after doctors told her she had uterine cancer, Maria Eva Duarte de Perón died. A radio and screen actress before her 1945 marriage to the President of Argentina, Juan Perón, Eva became a powerful political influence and was idolized by the people. Light rippling at top of mount, photo marginally coming away from matte. Overall, fine and lovely.
