EVA MARIE SAINT
She signs a book page featuring a picture of herself above an unsigned one of Brando, inscribing it with praise to legendary makeup artist Emile LaVigne.
Book Photograph inscribed and signed: "Dear Emile,/You have that/'light touch' with/your paint brushes./All best/Eva Marie Saint/1976/'That Fatal Weakness'/KCET". 6½x10. Actress EVA MARIE SAINT made an excellent impression in her first important stage appearance, 1953's A Trip to Bountiful. Her Drama Critics Award for that film was followed by her 1954 Oscar win for her co-starring stint with Marlon Brando in On the Waterfront. (The movie stills on this page are from that film.) The following year, the blonde, graceful actress appeared with Paul Newman in a TV musical version of Our Town. In 1959, she co-starred with Cary Grant in the Hitchcock classic, North by Northwest. Saint won an Emmy for her performance in the 1989 dramatic special People Like Us. Saint played a superhero's mother in Superman Returns (2006).  That Fatal Weakness was a TV movie produced in 1976 by KCET, the PBS affiliate in Lost Angeles. Makeup artist EMILE LA VIGNE (1913-1990) worked his magic on film sets for nearly 50 years, starting with Jack Haley's Tin Man in The Wizard of Oz (1939, uncredited). A sampling of the famous movies featuring what Saint calls his "light touch" includes Some Like It Hot, The Magnificent Seven, Irma La Douce, The Great Escape, Bullitt and Comes a Horseman. Lightly toned. Fine condition.
