EVE BOSWELL
Black and white publicity photograph of Eve Boswell in a party dress
smiling at the camera.
Photograph signed: "Best Wishes/Eve Boswell". B/w, 3½x5½
overall, image 3x4¾ (one surface). Eve Boswell (1922-1998, born in
Budapest Hungary) was a pop singer with several hit songs in Britain around
the 1950s. She toured with her parents in England as The Three Hugos
during World War II before marrying and touring South Africa, where she became a
star. Bandleader Geraldo persuaded her to return to England as part of his
band in 1949, but they parted ways in 1952. Her hits included Sugar Bush
(1952), which she sung in Afrikaans, and Pickin' a Chicken (1956), which
peaked at No. 9 on the UK Singles Chart. Her career declined in the 1960s,
and she eventually moved back to South Africa. Lightly bowed. Corners are
lightly worn. Adhesive residue on verso (no show through). Otherwise, fine
condition.
