EVELYN "CHAMPAGNE" KING
Rare signature from the "Shame" singer on a publicity photograph from RCA Records
Photograph signed: "Love,/Evelyn "Champagne"/King", in black ink, B/w 8x10. R&B singer Evelyn "Champagne" King (b. 1960) was discovered while working as an office cleaner for Philadelphia International Records, eventually signing a record deal with RCA Records. Her debut album, Smooth Talk, was released in 1977 and spawned the top 10 hit "Shame". Other hits have included "I Don't Know if It's Right", "I'm in Love", and "Love Come Down". King later took a lengthy hiatus from music, only reemerging in 2004 when "Shame" was inducted into the Dance Music Hall of Fame. Most recently, she has collaborated on a single with DJ and producer Miguel Migs. Corners lightly worn and creased. 'L' in "Love" slightly smeared, but legible. Top edge lightly creased. Slightly toned. Otherwise, fine condition.
