Evelyn Laye (1900-1996) was appearing in English operettas while still in her teens. She made her Broadway debut in Noel Coward's Bitter Sweet (1929). She co-starred with Frank Lawtonn, her second husband, in the TV sitcom My Husband and I (1956). Laye was awarded an OBE in 1973, and continued acting into her nineties. Saul Goodman (1919-2003), a New York business man by day, pursued his love of film and theatre in the evening, making friends with many celebrities. While other autograph seekers offered album leaves, Goodman presented stars with snazzy photographs, a rarity then, to sign in fountain pen.
