EVONNE GOOLAGONG The Aborigine tennis player who won a total of 14 Grand Slams signed this embellished card Signature: “Evonne Goolagong / Cawley” in black ink on a 5x3 embellished index card. The tennis player married fellow professional tennis player Roger Cawley and changed her name to include his surname, although she is better known as Evonne Goolagong. Evonne Goolagong (b. 1951) is a Hall of Fame tennis player who won 14 Grand Slam titles. Seven of them were Grand Slam singles titles, although she never managed to achieve a career Grand Slam, failing to ever win the U.S. Open. She finished in 2nd place at that tournament four years in a row from 1973-1976. She also competed in female double sand mixed doubles tournaments. She dominated the Australian Open, appearing in seven straight final matches and winning four of them. Pencil mark on verso in unknown hand. Otherwise, fine condition.
