Autograph Sentiment Signed: "Best Wishes/Ezio Flagello/Met. Opera/1979". Blue ink notations on verso in unknown hand. 5x3 card. Flagello (1931-2009, born in New York City) was an American operatic bass who sang at the Metropolitan Opera from 1957 to 1984. He made his professional debut in 1955 at the Empire State Festival in Ellenville, New York as Dulcamara in L'elisir d'amore and debuted at the Met in 1957 as the Jailer in Tosca. Flagello had a dark, rich voice and was especially known for his performances in comic roles like Bartolo in The Barber of Seville and Dulcamara, though he also excelled in dramatic roles. He also created the role of Enobarblus in Samuel Barber's Antony and Cleopatra. Lightly toned and creased. Pen dribbled while writing signature in places but is legible. Otherwise, fine condition.
