Recently re-united with husband Hugh Cuthrell after a 25-year separation, she writes that he has "been taken desperately ill."
Autograph Letter signed: "FBC", 5½x3¼ postcard. Addressed in her hand on verso with her signature in the return address "Mrs. Hugh Cuthrell", to John Fischbach, Phoenix, Arizona. In full: "Best to you and your wife. I am living in Brooklyn as Hugh was taken "desperately ill" July 11th. Emergency surgery at Long Island College Hospital the 12th. We moved him July 27 to Roosevelt in New York for treatments begun prior to his illness. I am most at the hospital. Our younger son in our hotel (where Hugh has had a suite for several years). Forgive this - he is improving but is still very serious". American author Faith Baldwin (1893-1978) wrote more than 85 books, including over 60 novels, mostly light fiction for female audiences. Her popularity peaked during the Depression, when many of her works appeared in serial and movie form. Many of her books remain in print today. In 1953, Baldwin and her husband, gas executive Hugh Cuthrell, announced their reconciliation after 25 years of separation. Fine condition.
