FAITH BALDWIN
TLS with many typos and her ink corrections, explaining to radio/TV host and collector George Sanders why she cannot send him a photograph
Typed Letter signed: "Faith Baldwin", 2 pages (front and verso), 5¾x7¾. Norwalk, Connecticut, May 29, no year. On letterhead with her married name (Mrs. Hugh Cuthrell, Sr) to "Dear Mr. [George] Sanders. Many typographical errors with ink corrections. In full: "Isn't it terrible but I have no suitable pictures. I am allergic to having my picture taken and all I have are small prints, a candid camera shot taken some years ago but still a good likeness. Your father can put it in a corner. When I was having some pictures taken for an advertisement recently they made several non-advertising ones and sent them to me; they are quite good but glossy and also I'm forbidden to use them publically. I am terribly sorry that I will not be able to grace this galaxy as I should but delighted that you wish to include me. Forgive the typing, this is the way I always type and I don't have a secretary! My regard to your father and yourself and God bless you." Faith Baldwin (1893-1978) wrote more than 85 books, including over 60 novels, mostly light fiction for female audiences. Her popularity peaked during the Depression, when many of her works appeared in serial and movie form. She wrote a column for Woman's Day magazine, and hosted a radio and later TV program, Faith Baldwin Romance Theatre. George Sanders was a West Coast radio/TV host and autograph collector. Normal mailing fold. Slightly creased. Toned at edges. Otherwise, fine condition.
