American stage actress FANNY DAVENPORT (1850-1898, born in London, England) made her debut at the age of 12 as the King of Spain in Faint Heart Never Won Fair Lady. In 1869, she joined the famed company of Augustin Daly, which traveled across the U.S. and toured England, Germany and France, presenting adaptations of foreign works and revivals of Shakespearean comedies. Leaving to form her own company, Davenport appeared in such plays as Sardous Fedora (1883) and Cleopatra (1890), making her final appearance on March 25, 1898, shortly before her death.
