The Polish painter who was contracted as a war artist during WWII signed this letter
Autograph Letter Fragment Signed: “Feliks Topolski”. 7¾x4¾. One page. In Part: “And shall we ever see you here? Surely, you promised your wife to bring her to my house!” Feliks Topolski (1907-1989) was a painter who spent most of his career in the United Kingdom. After studying art in Italy and France, he moved to Britain in 1935. He provided illustrations for two George Bernard Shaw plays and later was commissioned as a war artist during WWII. He completed many paintings of the Battle of Britain. Perhaps his most famous painting is of the first United Nations meeting. Later in his career, he completed portraits of famous Brits such as Evelyn Waugh and H. G. Wells. Toned. Light creasing. Otherwise, fine condition.
