This pink album sheet is signed by the English actress with a sentiment as well as by the
highly accomplished German and Italian singer
Autograph note signed: "To John,/Very best wishes/Fenella Fielding" and on verso: "To
John/Sincerely/Caterina/Valente" in blue ink. 5¾x4½. FENELLA FIELDING (1927-2018),
"England's first lady of the double entendre", began her acting career in 1954, concentrating on
the stage. With performances in Valmouth and Pieces of Eight, she was a star by the late
1950s. Continuing on stage, she made occasional guest appearances in TV programs such as
The Avengers and Danger Man. Her distinctive husky voice was cast in several "voice" roles
(The Prisoner and The Old Dark House in 1963) and also the voice of MOOD in the video
game Martian Gothic. Since 2000, Fielding has been working for a recording and publishing
company-reading. In 2006 she toured Ireland in The Vagina Monologues. CATERINA
VALENTE (b. 1931) has sold over 18 million records worldwide, with numerous hits in
Europe and a Top 10 single, "The Breeze and I" in the U. S. in 1955; her catalog of recorded
music includes more than 1,500 songs in 12 languages. She was born into a circus family
and began performing in the family act in 1936. Valente professional singing career began in
the circus of Swiss clown Grock in 1953, and she scored her first million-seller in Germany
the next year with "Ganz Paris träumt von der Liebe," a German-language version of Cole
Porter's "I Love Paris." She has acting credits in 17 movies and TV shows since 1954 and has
appeared on numerous TV shows as a singer and entertainer, including The Colgate
Comedy Hour, The Danny Kaye Show, Perry Como's Kraft Music Hall, The Ed Sullivan
Show and The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. Valente was also nominated for a
Best Female Vocalist Grammy in 1959. Lightly toned. Small perforations on left margin
