Cordial handwritten letter to a fan
Autograph Letter signed: "Fess", 1p, 7¼x10½. Santa Barbara, California, 1980 March 4. To "Dear Helen". In full: "Thank you for your letter - I do appreciate your interest - Sounds like congratulations are in order for you! Its [sic] nice in touch with a happy person - I wish you more of the same!" Signed the year Parker (1924-2010) was seen on the small screen in a two-part Disneyland presentation of the 1957 film, Old Yeller, in which Parker starred as Jim Coates. Actor Fess Parker is best known for his TV and screen incarnations of pioneer heroes Davy Crockett and Daniel Boone. Walt Disney cast him as Davy Crockett in a series of phenomenally successful TV specials, including the 1955 television film, Davy Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier, which featured the hit song, "The Ballad of Davy Crockett". Parker also appeared in other Disney films, including Westward Ho, the Wagons!, Old Yeller and The Light in the Forest. He later made a fortune in real estate after a waging a lengthy legal battle against the producers of Daniel Boone, whom Parker accused of reneging on their "percentage of profits" arrangement. Today, he owns a resort in Santa Barbara and an award-winning winery in addition to other properties. Lightly creased. Fine condition.
